Embrace The Future of Eco Kitchen Design

Environmental issues have become a hot topic in many households over the past few years and lots of us want to know how to do our part to be kinder to the earth but don’t want to become a conservationist "freak" in the process.

It doesn't have to be complicated to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle. In fact, there are so many different, simple and creative things you can do right now to help protect the planet. Even if you like your modern conveniences, being Eco friendly doesn’t mean you have to give up what you love. It simply means you make some wiser choices.

Within your kitchen there are some simple things you can do like using energy and water saving appliances, getting an integrated recycle bin to make it easier and cleaner to manage your waste and using environmentally friendly cleaning methods. You can even use Eco materials to create the kitchen of your dreams without skimping on design or quality. A classic example of this is the new ECO by Cosentino® range of surfacing.

Cosentino is one of the world's leading producer of quartz surfaces and they have decided to use all of their skills and knowledge in this area to produce the ECO range as an environmentally friendly alternative to stone surfacing which embraces sustainability, design and quality.

ECO by Cosentino® is manufactured from 75% recycled materials such as mirror, glass, porcelain, earthenware, and vitrified ash. Even 94% of the water used in its manufacturing process is re-used.

In its first year alone the ECO range was able to recycle 65 million bottles worth of glass, enough vitrified ash to build a 530m high tower, 2 million mirrors of 1m x 1m in size and 50.000m² of ceramic tiles. With more and more people realising its beauty and environmentally friendly properties these number continue to increase every day.

Cosentino even uses new technology to create an environmentally friendly process in order to manufacture the ECO range by using 94% recycled water, no solvents in their machinery cleaning and maintenance, reduced emissions and an advanced use of filtering systems which removes 99% of any Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

The benefits of the ECO range are plain and simple, by making sensible use of recyclable materials it reduces landfill waste by re-using obsolete and discarded items and saves energy by not using new raw materials which also reduces the depletion of natural resources and de-forestation. But the all important question to kitchen design lovers everywhere is what does it look like?

Many people have the misguided opinion that recycled materials are of poor quality and can look quite ugly. Cosentino, who are famous for their extensive range of stylish quartz surfacing have spared no effort in ensuring that the ECO range is no exception by creating 10 stunning colour choices in a choice of 2 textures (polished, creating a surface with a brilliant shine and Leather, a matt finish).

Whats more the same high quality you would expect from other surfacing collections by Cosentino is also a feature in the ECO range. It is manufactured with same high standards of physical-mechanical properties in mind to create a compact and hard surface highly resistant to impact, chemical products and scratches. The hardness rating is between 5 and 7 on the Mohs scale and it also has an extremely low rate of water absorption and porosity, making it an ideal material for bathrooms and kitchens.

It even comes with a 10 Year Warranty to give you added piece of mind.
